The Bible presents the local church as an entity made up of multiple individuals yet so highly integrated they are identifiable as a unit. They are even said to be a part of one another, we call this membership. At the Haven we view membership as both a partnership and a covenant.

Membership as Partnership

A partnership is a friendship of equal parties where koinonia (fellowship) happens in an ongoing, mutually beneficial manner. Most importantly, the partnership is for the advance of the gospel. Partnering with the Haven as a member carries the expectation that a person identifies with the Haven vision and values, commits to our Philosophy of Ministry, and commits to be a good steward of their time, talents and treasure.

Membership as Covenant

A covenant is a promise where people obligate themselves to one another in such a way that the obligation of one party is not dependent on the faithfulness of the other. Being a member of a church is really about being a part of a family. All members are disciples of Jesus, unified by their identity in Christ. Our unity is expressed in the way we collaborate in loving God, each other and everyone around us. Church members who enter into a covenant with their local church are called to a higher degree of responsibility and service. The Haven Church Member Covenant includes: (1) a member’s personal statement of faith; (2) the church’s statement of biblical doctrine; (3) the obligations of the Haven Church to its members; and (4) the obligations of members to the Haven.

To Become A Member of the Haven, You Must:
1. Attend Membership Class

Attend a class to allow us to introduce you to our community. In the class, we explain our membership expectations, describe our ministry philosophies, and answer doctrinal questions.

2. Complete Membership Form

Complete the Membership Form and sign a Membership Covenant.

3. Complete a Membership Interview

Each new applicant for membership has the opportunity to meet with an elder for a short interview. This gives the elders a chance to get to know incoming members and ask a few questions. It also gives you the chance to get to know our leaders and ask any additional questions that you may have.
